My Father’s Legacy of Service

What started out as a duty soon became a joy…

I initially started volunteering with the Sharon Woods Civic Association out of a sense of obligation to my late father, John. He was once very active in our association, but eventually he could no longer participate as much as he used to.

Over time, I found that volunteering with the civic association was so rewarding. I’m so glad I chose to continue in my dad’s footsteps!

Through volunteering in our community, I have learned so much about Sharon Woods — from local events and happenings in our area to the things that are being improved (or things that need to be improved). I have also had the opportunity to meet and interact with several City of Columbus officials and local area leaders.

Finally, and probably most importantly, serving in our civic association has given me a sense of “belonging” here. I feel connected, which in turn gives me a sense of pride in our neighborhood and our city.

If you have even a small amount of time, I would encourage you to simply attend one of our monthly meetings, which take place the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. You’ll learn more about what we do and consider if you can get involved. We have so many opportunities for you to help make Sharon Woods a better, safer place to live…even if you only have a small amount of time to spare.

I can’t wait to see you at our next meeting!
