Date: November 2, 2023
Location: Church of the Good Shepherd, Sharon Woods Blvd.
Attendees: Thomas Page, Karen Osmond, Laura Bastin (via Google Meet), Judith Cockrell (via Google Meet), Dennis Sullivan (via Google Meet), Roger Heckel, Penny Hackbarth, Elizabeth Francis, Connie Spencer, Jane Milligan, and Debbie Truxall
Opening: Meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:05 p.m.
Police Liaison: Officer Reed stated that overall, crime in the area is down. There is one issue on Devonhill. There is a family with multiple children/foster children that are not being properly supervised. There have been lots of burglaries and thefts in the area. The city is working on having the house declared as a nuisance. Officer Reed also looked up the accident that was inquired into last month. He said that it was essentially a head-on crash, but he did not have any other information. Officer Reed will watch out for trucks parked on Beechcroft Dr. He said that he has to give them a 1-hour notice, but then he will tow. As far as speeding complaints, he said to contact 311.
NCC Report (Roger Heckel): Roger Heckel stated that the Dollhouse on 161/Karl remains closed. Sirens is continually being updated, but other than that, there was no update re: opening date. The Newsstand at 161/Beechcroft continues to be a problem.
NCC Development Committee (Roger Heckel): Three cases heard, but none were relevant to the Sharon Woods area. However, the committee approved development of a 72 acre parcel of land off of Westerville Road for soccer fields. They will have both grass and turf fields. It will also have a center for drinks. This is an exciting project for the month.
Treasurer Report (Karen Osmond): It was a very slow month. We only brought in $47.98 in membership and extra contributions. We spent $51.54 in landscaping expenses (Round-up for the islands). For the year, we are down $225.67.
Beautification Report (Sandra Stamps): Sandra not present; however, she and Thomas are continuing to work on a landscaping plan for the future round-a-bout on Sharon Woods Blvd. The project manager for the round-a-bout, Tiffany Elchert, has been very receptive.
Luminaries: There was a lengthy discussion regarding Luminaries. What the history of them is, why we sell then, and who saw the last Gatepost in which they could order. Elizabeth is also going to draft a short article on Luminaries, which will be sent out over the web.
Welcoming Committee: No update. Laura will follow-up with Chrissy regarding the status of the project.
New Business: One attendee suggested sending a letter from the president in April or May 2023 with a membership application and an envelope to encourage membership.
Meeting Adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
Next Meeting: January 4, 2024 (no meeting in December)
